Find Treatment Help for an Alcohol or Drug Problem!
If you, or someone you know, has a problem with alcohol or drugs, treatment services are available throughout California to help you get on the road to recovery. These range from emergency counseling and initial assessment to detoxification services and residential or long-term outpatient treatment. The following resources can help you find the right services.
Resource Center
The ADP Resource Center maintains two toll-free, statewide telephone numbers for California residents needing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention and treatment information, publications, or library services. The Resource Center provides non-emergency information only and does not operate a crisis line.

SAMHSA Facility Locator
The federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) provides an online resource for locating drug and alcohol abuse treatment programs. The SAMHSA facility locator lists:
- Private and public facilities that are licensed, certified, or otherwise approved for inclusion by their state substance abuse agency
- Treatment facilities administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Indian Health Service, and the Department of Defense
Updates to facility names, addresses, telephone numbers, and services are made weekly when facilities inform SAMHSA of changes. For additional advice, you may call the Referral Helpline operated by SAMHSA's Center for Substance Abuse Treatment:

ADP Directories
If you already know what kind of program can best serve your needs, you can use the following county-by-county directories to contact a program near you.
- Driving-Under-the-Influence Directory (PDF) - This directory lists all statewide licensed DUI program service providers, grouped by county
- Licensing and Certification Branch Directory (PDF) - This directory lists licensed residential facilities and/or certified alcohol and drug programs
- Perinatal Directory (PDF) - This directory lists publicly funded programs that provide alcohol and other drug treatment and recovery services for California's women and their children. These programs provide women-specific substance abuse treatment and other supportive services
- Narcotic Treatment Directory (PDF) - This directory lists licensed narcotic treatment programs in California. Narcotic treatment programs provide medication and counseling services to heroin and other opiate addicts. The two approved medications for replacement narcotic therapy are methadone and LAAM (levoalphacetylmethadol).
National Directory
The National Directory of Drug Abuse and Alcoholism Treatment Programs is now available on the internet. A free hardcopy of the directory is available by calling the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information at 1-800-729-6686. Ask for publication # SMA07-4290.
